ESG Training Malaysia

A workforce that understands ESG on paper is not the same as one that can act on it.

ESG has moved from a reporting obligation to a genuine operational expectation for Malaysian corporates and GLCs. We build ESG training that gives your people the capability to actually work differently, not just a certificate to file.

Why now

Why ESG training matters now

Regulatory pressure on Malaysian corporates and GLCs around ESG disclosure and reporting continues to increase, and the expectation has shifted from a specialist sustainability team knowing the standards to the wider organisation being able to apply them.

The organisations that get ahead of this build ESG capability broadly, not just compliance in a single department. That is a capability building problem as much as a technical one, and it is HRD Corp claimable like the rest of our programmes.

Three levels

Three levels of ESG capability

ESG Essentials for All

A practical two-day workshop that embeds ESG into your core strategy, built for business leaders and supply chain managers who need the whole organisation working from the same foundation.

GRI Reporting Standards

A two-day course on the GRI Standards 2021 Update, the world's most widely used sustainability reporting framework, built for the people who actually produce your disclosures.

GRI Certified Sustainability Professional

A certification issued directly by the Global Reporting Initiative. Graduates are listed in GRI's official Directory of Certified Sustainability Professionals, for the specialists who need to prove their expertise formally.

Beyond the classroom

What every ESG programme includes

Free ESG AI reporting tools

Practical tools you can put to work immediately, not just theory to remember.

An ESG playbook

A reference to guide implementation after the room empties.

Malaysian case studies

Real local examples, not international cases that do not map to Malaysian regulation.

A pathway to GRI

A clear route to progress toward full GRI certification when you are ready.

Beyond compliance

Compliance is the floor, not the ceiling

A compliant report can still sit on top of an organisation that has not changed how it operates. We design for the culture shift underneath the reporting, which makes the reporting sustainable rather than a once-a-year scramble.

Serious change, powered by play

Games & activities

The Daybreak climate action simulation game board

Daybreak

A climate action simulation

Step into the shoes of world leaders in this powerful cooperative game about tackling climate change. Each team represents a global region and must work together to cut carbon emissions, build clean energy, and protect vulnerable communities.

Through real-world scenarios, rising temperatures, resource crises, and policy trade-offs, participants experience the urgency and complexity of ESG decision-making. The goal is collective: survive climate challenges and achieve "Drawdown," the moment when more carbon is removed than emitted.

The Culture Rally game kit used to simulate unspoken workplace rules

Culture Rally

Experiencing unspoken rules

In Culture Rally, participants start with simple dice games to learn the rules of play. Soon, conversation is no longer allowed. Some players then move to different tables, only to discover that the rules there are completely different. Without words, they must quickly adapt, learn, or try to impose their own familiar ways.

This hands-on experience creates a powerful "mini culture shock." Participants feel what it means to step into an unfamiliar environment and must find new ways to adapt, collaborate, and succeed.

An ESG-themed Snakes and Ladders board used in training sessions

Snakes & Ladders

Encourages teamwork and peer learning

This classic game gets an ESG twist. Participants play Snakes & Ladders with a deck of ESG-themed question cards. Every roll of the dice brings a challenge or opportunity: correct answers climb ladders, while mistakes slide you down.

The game reinforces key ESG knowledge in a high-energy, collaborative setting, making complex concepts both fun and memorable.

Common misses

Where most ESG training misses the mark

It is confined to the sustainability team

ESG stays a specialist silo rather than a shared responsibility.

It teaches the standard, not the application

People can define the terminology and still be unable to apply it.

It treats certification as the finish line

A certificate does not by itself change daily operations.

It ignores the culture layer

Compliance without buy-in produces reporting disconnected from how the business runs.

The work, and what changed

Only sourced, client-approved evidence appears as completed proof.

ESG

New practice, established method

ESG is our newest practice. We are GRI-certified and running live engagements now, but we do not publish outcomes until a client has approved them. Ask us what is in flight and we will tell you where we are.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

What are the three levels of ESG training?

ESG Essentials for All, a two-day workshop for the whole organisation; GRI Reporting Standards, for the people who produce your disclosures; and GRI Certified Sustainability Professional, a formal certification issued directly by the Global Reporting Initiative.

Is Learning Edge an official GRI training partner?

Yes. We are a Certified GRI Training Partner and are GRI-certified ourselves, running live ESG engagements now.

What do you get beyond the classroom sessions?

Free ESG AI reporting tools, an ESG playbook to guide implementation, Malaysian case studies instead of international ones, and a clear pathway toward full GRI certification.

Is GRI Certified Sustainability Professional a recognised certification?

Yes. It is issued directly by the Global Reporting Initiative, and graduates are listed in GRI's official Directory of Certified Sustainability Professionals, not a certificate we issue ourselves.

Does ESG training only matter for the sustainability team?

It should not. One of the most common ways ESG training misses the mark is staying confined to the sustainability team as a specialist silo, rather than becoming a shared responsibility across the organisation.

What's the difference between ESG Essentials and GRI Reporting Standards training?

ESG Essentials for All is a two-day workshop that embeds ESG into your core strategy, built for business leaders and supply chain managers who need the whole organisation on the same foundation. GRI Reporting Standards is a two-day course on the GRI Standards 2021 Update, built specifically for the people who produce your disclosures.
